🔒 AetherProxy — Privacy Policy

This privacy policy describes how AetherProxy ("we", "our", or "the app") handles your information. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our practices.

1. What AetherProxy Does

AetherProxy is a networking tool that creates a local VPN tunnel on your Android device to route network traffic through your own SOCKS5 or HTTP proxy server. The app uses Android's built-in VpnService API.

• The app does NOT operate any proxy or VPN servers.
• The app does NOT intercept, inspect, modify, or log your network traffic.
• The app does NOT inject advertisements or modify web content.
• All traffic is routed directly to the proxy server you configure — no intermediary servers are involved.

2. Data We Collect

2.1 Data Stored Locally on Your Device

The following data is stored only on your device and is never transmitted to us or any third party:

2.2 Data Processed by Third-Party Services

AetherProxy uses the following Firebase services provided by Google:

2.3 Data We Do NOT Collect

• ❌ Personal information (name, email, phone number)
• ❌ Location data
• ❌ Contacts, photos, or files
• ❌ Device identifiers (IMEI, serial number)
• ❌ Financial or payment information

3. How We Use the VPN Permission

AetherProxy requests the BIND_VPN_SERVICE permission solely to create a local VPN tunnel that routes traffic through your configured proxy server. Specifically:

• The VPN tunnel is created only when you explicitly tap "Connect"
• A persistent notification is displayed while the VPN is active
• You can disconnect at any time
• Traffic is routed directly to your proxy server — not through our servers
• We do NOT filter, monitor, or redirect your traffic

4. Data Sharing

We do NOT share, sell, rent, or trade any user data with any third party. The only external service receiving data is Firebase (Google) for push notifications and basic analytics, as described above.

5. Data Security

Your proxy credentials are stored locally on your device using Android's secure storage mechanisms. We do not have access to your credentials or any data stored on your device. All network communication between your device and your proxy server uses the protocol you configure (SOCKS5 or HTTP).

6. Data Retention & Deletion

• Local data: Deleted immediately when you uninstall the app or clear app data from Android Settings.
• Firebase data: FCM tokens are automatically expired by Google when the app is uninstalled. Analytics data is retained by Google per their standard retention policies.

7. Children's Privacy

AetherProxy is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has used this app, please contact us.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
